RAFORLU, a house developing rare objects, high-end timepieces and jewellery, is expanding its Swiss production network as part of its effort to secure world-class capabilities in high-end watchmaking.
RAFORLU has signed non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) with Swiss specialists whose professional backgrounds and project experience extend across some of the world’s leading luxury and high-watchmaking maisons, including Cartier and Audemars Piguet.
The global luxury watch industry, particularly Swiss haute horlogerie, operates through an exceptionally specialized network of movement developers, precision manufacturers, case and dial specialists, jewellery setters and highly skilled independent ateliers.
The Swiss specialists working with RAFORLU operate across highly specialized areas including complicated mechanical movements, ultra-precision manufacturing, case and dial development, jewellery setting and other forms of high-end craftsmanship.
Among RAFORLU’s Swiss partners, Company G is currently involved in projects connected to Richard Mille and Hermes.
Another Swiss specialist, Company L, focuses on the development and manufacture of highly complicated mechanical movements. Its publicly documented professional and project background includes work connected to Cartier, Hermes, Louis Vuitton and Jacob & Co., while the broader technical experience represented within the network also includes experience connected to Audemars Piguet.
Rather than assigning the entire production of a high-end object to a single manufacturer, RAFORLU follows a specialist-led development model.
Depending on the characteristics and technical requirements of each project, the company selects and combines expertise across movements, cases, dials, jewellery setting and precision manufacturing.
This modular and network-based approach allows RAFORLU to build each project around the expertise best suited to the object rather than limiting development to the capabilities of a single workshop.
Such a highly specialized production process also requires strict confidentiality.
In accordance with NDAs signed with its Swiss partners and RAFORLU’s own policy of protecting its production network, the company does not disclose the full identities of its manufacturing partners or confidential details of individual projects.
Public references are therefore limited to selected cases and brand-level references that can be independently verified through external sources, while specific project details, manufacturing relationships and additional partners remain confidential.
One of RAFORLU’s core projects currently under development centres on high jewellery and high-end timepieces incorporating natural diamonds with documented spaceflight provenance.
A natural diamond that has travelled beyond Earth and returned carries a form of rarity that cannot be replicated through conventional provenance alone.
RAFORLU aims to combine that rarity with top-tier Swiss watchmaking and jewellery craftsmanship, creating objects in which provenance and execution carry equal weight.
Rather than offering clients predetermined finished products, RAFORLU applies a Private Commission model.
Each commission begins with an understanding of the client’s personal preferences, purpose of ownership and interests in watches, jewellery and rare objects.
Based on those discussions, RAFORLU determines the appropriate design direction and selects the specialist production capabilities best suited to realizing the individual object.
“RAFORLU is not focused on the logos or names of already well-known luxury brands,” said a RAFORLU representative.
“What matters is how we bring together the technical capabilities and craftsmanship responsible for producing some of the world’s most exceptional objects and apply them to a single piece.”
The representative added:
“The story and rarity of a diamond with documented spaceflight provenance are not enough on their own. The timepiece or jewellery created to hold that diamond must also achieve a level of craftsmanship worthy of the object itself.”
RAFORLU plans to continue expanding its specialist production network in Switzerland, selecting and combining the technical capabilities best suited to each individual Private Commission.
The company’s broader network also includes specialists with experience across additional global luxury and high-end watch brands.
In accordance with partner confidentiality agreements and RAFORLU’s production-network protection policy, only a limited number of independently verifiable brand references are publicly disclosed.
